My friend Sophia’s 17th birthday is today. As we are stuck in our houses I decided to paint a pot for her with some of her favorite Disney characters. She loves Disney and I have watched many of the movies represented on the pot with her. Hopefully the succulent will be something positive for her while we are stuck at home. It was fun to paint and she likes it a lot.

What I'd want people to know about the artwork I posted is that I put a lot of time and dedication into it, as my grandma is going through a really rough time and we can't fly out to see her right now. I'd like people to know that I am very grateful towards her, and she has helped me a lot in order to shape me into the woman I am today. As the viewers look at my drawing, I want them to feel a sense of happiness. I also want them to feel gratitude towards their own family, and maybe even take the time to reach out to a family member of theirs and make sure they're doing okay during this difficult time in our lives. I hope my piece makes people think about their loved ones, and remember to say thank you to their loved ones for always being there for one another.

During quarantine I have been scared and worried about whats happening in the world right now. My friend, Amy, has been calling me everyday since quarantine. We are always playing video games together and having a good time. I'm grateful that I have a friend like her. Without her I would have felt really alone.

I drew this semi realistic digital portrait of my boyfriend, Ben. I’ve done this before but I am very proud of this one. This artwork is for him and I hope he enjoys the time and effort I put into this while we aren’t able to be with each other. This represents the love and happiness I feel for him and lets him know I’m thinking of him while this pandemic is going on. I hope this piece is enjoyed by whoever sees it.

This piece of artwork is a representation of my " new normal". All the things I used to participate or indulge in everyday is now accessed through the internet. The connections I used to make outside my home are now accessed through my computer at home. Now that school and social interactions take place online, I have a completely new perspective on what productivity looks like. I used to feel lazy when I sat at home but now I'm sitting at home doing college research, FaceTiming my friends, taking an English class, and getting important work done. It's not a better work style than before, but its what is most fitting for the current state of things and I'm trying my best to embrace it.

The painting shows Tom from Tom and Jerry, smiling at the sunset. This painting is for everyone, especially a Tom and Jerry fan. The painting was inspired by Tom and one of his comedic expressions that he makes throughout the show. The sunset was inspired by a real sunset that the artist saw one day. This is for the artist's brother, who watched the show with the artist when they were young.

I chose to draw this for my mom. During this hard time, she has been the person in our family who has thought of all the ideas on how to keep our family safe while simultaneously keeping our family sane and connected. I really appreciate my mom both during this time and in all times. The lightbulb is to represent her constant ability to think quickly on her feet and offer new ideas. The branches sprouting from the lightbulb come together to form a heart, much like how our family is managing to stay connected and passionate during this time. The trees and birds inside the lightbulb are representing our families love of nature.

This white scratchboard art piece is a recreation of a photo I took of my cat Beethoven. I overlaid the image on the scratchboard and used a graphite rub on the back to create a light outline to create the image off of. This artwork was calming to make as it allowed me to reflect on my appreciation of my animals now that I am stuck at home constantly. Recreating the fur texture and feel using only 2 shades made me work more meticulously and think more deeply about the meaning and emotion behind the art. In majority, the feelings I tried to convey with this art was of comfort, calmness and fun in these times of concern and worry.

This is a painting/drawing of the Knight from the game "Hollow Knight". It's a "hollow vessel" knight that tries to stop an orange mind-controlling disease from spreading in the kingdom of Hollownest. My friend really loves that game and so I decided to paint/draw him. He is painted with water colors and outlined in pen. Some accents are made with a white paint pen. I also crocheted the Knight for his little sister's birthday! :)

I would like viewers to know a few things about it. First, I made it for my older sister because she misses the outdoors while she’s in self isolation. The painting is based on a photo that my friend took. I used watercolors to make it and painted on a watercolor block. I also used colored pencils to add in a bit more detail. It was inspired by the impressionistic landscapes that my dad likes.

Often I notice that as we strive through life, there is so much going on around us it is easy to simply get lost in the chaos. As a high school student, the piles of assignments and assessments along with the waves of stress, as well as drama with friends can be at times quite overwhelming. For me, in order to implant some balance and order in my life, I take breaks throughout the day, what I’d like to call it: “ Me time”. In these intervals of rest, I do activities which clear my mind, such as walking around the neighborhood listening to my favorite artists under a cloudy blue sky, usually the kpop group BTS, whose main message is to love yourself. I also play “River Flows in You” on the piano, a childhood song my mom used to play for me all the time. Life is full of unexpected twists and turns, valleys and hills, such as times like now, and I want to remind that before all else, self-care, physically and mentally, should be prioritized. When one is stable with balance and order, whatever fork in the road you come across, a strong, healthy foundation will lead you through.

During this quarantine I appreciate the people who are making the best out of the worst and who are spreading positivity during these tough times. Everyone in Italy was quarantined inside their house and everyone stood on their porch outside their apartments listening to each other play music. They were still having fun and interacting with each other even though they were stuck inside their houses. This man is playing the trumpet for everyone to listen to and eventually everyone started playing and they were having a live concert on their porch and spreading positivity among each other.

What I’d want viewers to know about my artwork as they were looking at it is it’s focus on elements/principles. These are things such as line and value. I tried to create a depth of the room and partly the backyard. Also, the drawing is a representation of being in quarantine. From one of the questions I answered I have a lot more free time, and I can spend more time on doing fun things like cooking.

I would want people to know what friends are forever. No matter what happens friends will always be their. Even if you were to take breaks from each other you will eventually meet later in life. You have the best life experiences with friends. You can also meet new people, great people from friends.

This is a drawing of my mom with the Ukrainian flag on her face. I also drew a poppy seed flower and a cornflower because those are the main flowers that grow in Ukraine. The flag and the flowers represent who my mom is. She will never forget who she is and the flowers also show that she is growing because she is still getting use to how different her life is here. It also shows her leaving her old life during the Soviet Union but also remembering where she came from allowing her to grow.

On the left side is a picture of my desk when I am studying, and on the right side is what I do in my free time. Balance is always important in our lives. For us students, when we are in school, we should give ourselves some free time instead of studying all day and all night. During break, we should keep up with the schoolwork and still have fun. Maintaining a balanced life is important for our health, especially during this “crisis”, we should stay healthy while having a meaningful life.

When the viewers are looking at my artwork, I want them to know everything will be okay. I want them to take there mind off of the troubles in the world and just relax. This picture isn't the best, but if I could make it better i'd want them to admire it when taking their mind off of the world. The picture itself is just a sunset. I thought that it'd be a good indicator of relaxation or tranquility to the viewers mind and actions.

When looking at my artwork, I would want my viewers to focus on the artwork as a whole instead of each individual flower. The reason behind this is because each flower is different and unique (besides the two large sunflowers), and each flower on its own isn't as unique or special. But together, the flowers make up a distinct artwork. The dark blue background enhances the concentration on the entire artwork as whole, because it makes it seem like all the flowers are all on one common background. Furthermore, I tried to incorporate a lot of colors and types of flowers when drawing to emphasize the differences between them.

In hard times it is not only important to think about what is going on in the world, but also to think about you, yourself. Thinking about yourself shows self care. It shows that you care about yourself physically and mentally. By physically caring about yourself, you are doing things such as going on a run to get exercise or preparing healthy meals for yourself. By mentally caring for yourself, you are thinking about what you could be doing in that moment in time. Mentally caring for yourself could also be having high self esteem and feeling good about yourself. Self care is important in ones life.

Throughout our break, my schedule has changed a lot. Mostly, I have been practicing soccer every day, which is why it is the base of my drawing. I have also been doing other things with my free time. I have been able to workout more, which is why I have a dumbbell inside the shape in the soccer ball. I also have been using my phone and other electronic devices a lot more with my free time. I have been able to sleep in more because there is no school. And finally, I was able to learn the Spongebob theme song on the recorder, which is why I have put spongebob and a recorder on the ball as well.

I would like the viewers to know about the symbols and representation in the artwork they’re looking at. There is a difference of warm and cold colors to separate individual representations throughout the drawing. For example, the clock is the focus of the artwork, as it is in bright warm colors compared to most other things and it is in the center of the paper. I’d also like the viewers to see the maze as a symbol of confusion, along with the signs and arrows and further express the ideas of uncertainty. The fog or clouds are representative of mystery and the unknown, along with the dark colors in the background as the maze expands further into that darkness.

As I drew this piece, it started to take form as a quirky gallery. I’ve been calling it “Quarantine Tales: A Visual Diary.” Some of the paintings have a very specific meaning to me, and others are more general. This is a collection of my experience with the pandemic, and I’d be interested to know how others felt.

My drawing depicts a large garden in front of a house. It is meant to represent the current situation with the Coronavirus. Many people, including me, are stuck inside of their houses without much to do. However, I wanted to how that live will still return to normal. The world will still be there and beautiful, and there is nothing to worry about.

I made this piece is in honor of my friend’s eighteenth birthday, which is today (April 2nd)! It is the culmination of many inside jokes my friends and I have had with her over the past four years. The piece is supposed to be in a “Where’s Waldo?” style with many jokes hidden throughout the color pencil drawing. It centers around two potatoes that my friends dubbed Lettos and Thanuce who are drinking coffee at an Italian/French café. There are many different animals that live in this area such as rats and frogmen (which are both ongoing jokes in my friend group). I hope that viewers may enjoy searching for the many little easter eggs and the fun atmosphere in the drawing.
